Nein viert De Brakke Grond met Sc(è)ene 5 : Wishing (them) well op 21 mei in Amsterdam

De Brakke Grond wordt 40 (+1). Het Amsterdamse huis voor Vlaamse kunstenaars en Nederlandse kunstliefhebbers geeft daarom een feestje en Nein viert mee. Op zaterdag 21 mei host Nein hier Sc(è)ene 5 : Wishing (them) well, een collectieve performance night geleid door het toeval. Speciaal voor dit weekend vulde Nein honderden fortune cookies met performatieve instructies in plaats van ‘fortune’. De aanwijzingen komen van 41 bekende makers, zoals Benjamin Verdonck, Jauoad Alloul, Anna Franziska Jäger, Brihang, Musia Mwankumi,....
Zes performers, m.n. Sigrid stigsdatter Mattiasen, Ahmed El Gendy, Sophía Rodríguez, Ferre Marnef, Fyllenia Grigoriou en Rabina Miya, grabbelen live in de koekjestrommel en voeren al improviserend de instructies uit. Daarbij nodigen ze het publiek uit om dat ook te doen.
Dit alles wordt muzikaal begeleid door Liew Niyomkarn en Daniel Dariel die op hun beurt weer improviseren op wat er op scene gebeurt. Vonken verzekerd.

Speciaal voor het feest haalde Nein bovendien een heuse wensput naar Amsterdam; het moerasachtige Reservoir (Wishing Well) van het Gentse kunstenaarscollectief 019 doet dienst als scenografie van de avond.
De tot de verbeelding sprekende installatie – die een mobiele spin-off is van het waterlandschap dat het collectief inrichtte in hun vaste tentoonstellingsruimte – is een cirkelvormige poel die naast water en kroos ook ingeworpen muntgeld vasthoudt.

Gooi voor de gelegenheid eens met geld naar cultuur!

Nein is celebrating De Brakke Grond with Sc(è)ene 5 : Wishing (them) well on the 21st of May in Amsterdam.

De Brakke Grond is turning 40 (+1). The Amsterdam home for Flemish artists and Dutch art lovers is therefore throwing a party and Nein is joining in. On Saturday 21 May Nein is hosting Sc(è)ene 5 : Wishing (them) well, a collective performance night led by coincidence. Especially for this weekend Nein filled hundreds of fortune cookies with performative instructions instead of 'fortune'. The instructions are written by 41 well-known creators, like Benjamin Verdonck, Jauoad Alloul, Anna Franziska Jäger, Brihang, Musia Mwankumi,....
Six performers, namely Sigrid Stigsdatter Mattiasen, Ahmed El Gendy, Sophía Rodríguez, Ferre Marnef, Fyllenia Grigoriou and Rabina Miya, which you can grab live from the biscuit jar and carry out the instructions while improvising. In doing so, they invite the audience to do the same.
All this is accompanied musically by Liew Niyomkarn and Daniel Dariel, who wil improvise on what happens on stage. Sparks assured.

Nein also brought a real wishing well to Amsterdam for the occasion; the swampy Reservoir (Wishing Well) by Ghent-based artists' collective 019 serves as the evening's scenography.
The imaginative installation - which is a mobile spin-off of the water landscape that the collective set up in their permanent exhibition space - is a circular pool that, in addition to water and duckweed, also holds thrown-in coins.
